The Art of Storytelling Through the Lens on Whidbey Island
Photography has always been about more than just a "pretty picture" for me. It’s how I bottle up a feeling or a specific mood before it slips away. When I first started Ashleigh B Photography, I was all in on family and lifestyle sessions. I loved catching those loud, messy moments—the barefoot kids running on driftwood and the way the coastal wind absolutely wrecks everyone’s hair.
Those sessions are special because they’re about being seen and connected. But lately, I’ve found myself falling in love with a different kind of magic.
From Family Portraits to the Tiny Details
Living on Whidbey Island, you start to notice the quiet stuff. I found myself getting distracted by the way the afternoon light hit a stack of old books, or how a single candle could completely change the "vibe" of a room.
That’s how I ended up on this new creative path: bookish photography and product storytelling.
I still love the big landscapes, but there’s something so satisfying about the small scale. The crinkle of a well-loved page, the texture of a linen throw, or a perfectly styled flat lay—these aren't just "background details" to me anymore. They’re stories in themselves.
I’ve leaned hard into the Dark Academia aesthetic and those moody, fantasy-inspired tones. It’s like creating a tiny, curated world where everything—from the steam on a tea cup to the shadows on a gilded book edge—has a purpose.
Why This Matters for Your Brand
In a world where everyone is scrolling a mile a minute, a "good" photo isn't enough. You need an image that actually makes someone stop and feel something.
Whether you’re an author launching a new series or a small shop owner with a new line of candles, your photos are your first impression. I’m not just here to "showcase" your product; I’m here to build a mood that connects with your audience.
What high-quality storytelling imagery does for you:
- Stops the scroll: High-aesthetic photos for Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
- Builds a "Vibe": Creates a recognizable look that people associate with your brand.
- Emotional Hooks: Helps readers and customers actually imagine your book or product in their own homes.
Who I Work With
My photography services are for the creators who want images that feel intentional and lived-in. I love collaborating with:
- Authors: For cover reveals, launches, or just building hype for a series.
- Candle & Small Shop Owners: Who need that cozy, "I need this right now" aesthetic.
- Book Boxes & Bookstores: For curated, high-impact visuals.
Each session is a little different. Whether we’re going for "moody and dark" or "whimsical and light," the goal is always the same: to make your brand feel like a story.
Let’s Create Something Together
Bookish photography has become such a huge part of my heart. It lets me slow down and find the beauty in the ordinary. If you’re a creator or business owner looking for custom imagery that actually elevates what you’re doing, I’d love to help you bring that vision to life.
Say hello.
Let's work together.
